Claude Monet, a famous French painter, lived in his house in Giverny for forty years. He conceived both his flower garden and water garden as true works of art. Walking through his house and gardens, visitors can still feel the atmosphere which reigned at the home of the Master of Impressionnism. The gardens are composed of the Clos Normand, with its flowerbeds, and the Water Garden, planted with oriental vegetation and weeping willows, its Japanese bridge painted green and its waterlilies.
Inside the house, rooms have been restored to their 19th century condition, just as they were in Monet’s time.
