Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to explore Ayi Kwei Armah's search for alternatives to the present-day socio-political impasse in Ghana in particular and in Africa in general. His therapeutic vision offers possibilities to re-build an ideal society. To come to terms with the goal, this paper examines two novels: Two Thousand Seasons and Osiris Rising. In the first work, Armah's main healing strategy is the unity of Africans, but in the second text the most prominent remedy is the reform of the educational system in Africa. Thes novels make use of African history to articulate their artistic vision. An interdisciplinary approach is adopted to fully investigate this issue.
