It also provides an explanatory analysis of the factors associated with poverty status transitions over time. The study takes advantage of a unique and multidisciplinary longitudinal survey on people aged 50 and older in Israel, conducted as part of the SHARE project (Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe). A multinomial logistic regression - the model most frequently used for multinomial outcomes - is used to examine the impact of sociodemographic characteristics, health state and economic resources on poverty transitions between 2005 and 2010. The dependent variable consists of four outcomes: remaining persistently poor, managed to escape from poverty, fell into poverty, and remaining persistently non-poor. Poverty line is defined as 50% of the household's median (equivalent) disposable income. The findings indicate that poverty rate among old households remained high, albeit stable over time (25%). However, high mobility among poverty states was observed: 41% of the poor households in 2005 managed to escape from poverty in 2010, whilst 17% of the non-poor households in 2005 fell into poverty in 2010. The results of the multinomial logistic model emphasize the role of human capital factors on the likelihood of being in persistent poverty or on falling into poverty. Having less education and poorer health are associated with higher probability of remaining persistently poor or of falling into poverty over time. Employment status is a strong predictor as well: people who were out of the labor force are more likely to remain poor at both periods. The probability of a household being in chronic poverty decreases with the age, but the effect of gender was found to be insignificant. Finally, the likelihood of remaining persistently poor is higher for minorities.Examining the dynamics of well-being and poverty among older households has the potential to make an important contribution to our understanding of the impact of population ageing, and to shape of appropriate policy responses. The findings emphasize the importance of the income maintenance programs in ensuring the older households adequate benefits as well as of the importance of encouraging the participation of adults in the labor market. As one of the important part of these programs, health and healthcare services have potential developmental tendency, innovation and dynamism and also, many aims required complex and life- long learning such as efficiency, efficacy within financial, social and legal obligations in order to contribute to social system. Many institutions that create social system reveal social and economic variables and factors of individuals in the society. As considering with a holistic viewpoint, health, which is one of the main institutions in this system as stated by Parsons, expresses not only physical well- being but also social and psychological well- being. In the literature, it is accepted that social and economic factors, as assessing the facts except genetic predisposition, cause mental diseases and can lead to even death. In social system that created by human beings, the importance of health institution has been highlighted to help individuals coping with mental problems, which are also conceived by their own responses and attitudes, and emphasized as a bridge to conduct preventive interventions and make possible for society to reach a ?quality? life. The study was designed in the light of following doctrine as that many cross national indicators can present a framework about the countries? viewpoints for the citizens and willingness to contribute to them. Esping Anderson made the way clear to understand the value of countries to the people, as a citizenship, social or capital means. Thus, the objective of this paper is to evaluate and compare the welfare approaches and mental health policies of the countries by way of many health indicators and social rates. Historically, Turkish culture has had a profound impact over much of Eastern and Southern Europe. Turkey began "westernising" its economic, political and social structures in the 19th century. Following the First World War and the proclamation of the Republic in 1923, it chose Western Europe as the model for its new secular structure. Turkey has ever since closely aligned itself with the West and has become a founding member of the United Nations, a member of NATO, the Council of Europe, the OECD and an associate member of the Western European Union. During the Cold War Turkey was part of the Western alliance, defending freedom, democracy and human rights. In this respect, Turkey has played and continues to play a vital role in the defence of the European continent and the principal elements of its foreign policy have converged with those of its European partners. Having thus entered into very close cooperation with Western Europe in the political field, it was therefore only natural for Turkey to complete this in the economic area. Thus, Turkey chose to begin close cooperation with the fledgling EEC in 1959. However, almost all researchers agree that democracy refers to a form of government in which the people select their leaders and hold their leaders accountable for their policies and their actions or inaction. The citizens decide who will represent them in parliament and in government. They do so by choosing between competing parties by holding free and fair elections at regular intervals. In addition, it has been argued that no contemporary democracy has excelled without political parties. To meet the requirements of democracy, politics require social organizations that collect interests, and communicate them to the political and governmental institutions. Political parties, beside the other non-governmental organizations of the civil society, are such organizations that collect and aggregate social interests. Accordingly, this study aims at discussing the case of Jordan by identifying the main challenges that face the Jordanian political parties and prevent them from playing that role of collecting and aggregating social interests and prevent them from capturing political power through elections in order to influence policies and implement their programs. These challenges facing political parties have led in conclusion to lose their credibility.Accordingly, the basic questions that need to be answered in this study are: Are political parties considered one of the most important political organizations in politics in Jordan?; Are they have political power to do changes, or are they powerless?; what are the various challenges faced by political party? Are these challenges stem from the parties itself, or is it cultural obstacles, or is it the lack of political will of the political system to give political parties a role by preventing parties from drawing big attention and introducing its political position to gain new followers and members.?. The study concluded that Jordanian political parties facing many challenges-these challenges are considered obstacle to parties and Jordanian democracy alike- the most important are; poor finance, poor political integration, lack of coherent and internal cohesion, institutional and structural challenges, poor internal democracy, lack of political will, a credibility challenges, and social challenges particularly tribalism which keep individuals hesitating from joining other groups. Besides, net error and omission item represents unregistered income, in other words untaxed income in country budget. In this study, by using quarterly data for years 2000 to 2014, the effect of housing industry on money laundering will be investigated. By using quarterly data for housing licence permissions and with the help of coefficient of relations, changes in housing industry will be observed whether net error and omission item has a relation with it. Moreover, a regression model with one independent variable was created and the expressiveness of housing industry on money laundering will be also investigated. The objective is to present a brief information about data, with some statistical methods. Daily data are used in maturities of two and five years, covering the period from May 1, 2007 to October 7, 2011. Based on structural change and cointegration analysis we estimate Autoregressive Distributed Lag error correction models for the subperiods prior and after the moment crisis started. The nonstationarity of data is not due to unit roots but to structural changes as a consequence of the financial crisis. This issue is the main distinctive feature of our study since as data report different integration orders, the procedure of differentiating to get stationary data is not appropriate. In the light of this remark, results reveal the absence of cointegration over the sample period, with important differences prior and after 2010. The long-run relationship in the 5-year maturity markets was interrupted with the crisis, but a long-run relationship in the 2-year maturity markets has been enacted. Both markets perform an important role in price discovering in the 2-year segment. Abstract: Marital problems, divorce, separation, child custody battles- all of these social issues hold a significant value in any society let it be Australia or any other part of the world. In the year 2011, there were 24,144 divorces involving children under 18 years of age which represented 48.4% of total divorces granted in Australia. These figures do not even include the children affected by parental separation from de-facto relationships, a phenomenon which is on the rise. This paper discusses the Family Relationship Centres (FRCs) introduced in Australia from 2006 onwards to help separating or separated parents transition from parenting as a couple to a single parent arrangement with a focus on the wellbeing of children caught amidst the separation process. I argue that while FRCs have shown early success largely owing to the centralization of the service, in order for FRCs to sustain in the long run they have to be ultimately run a single service provide as opposed to different ones in different states to achieve consistency in their services. This paper will be divided into five sections. The first will briefly summarise the missions and goals of FRCs. The second will look at some of the key political issues that brought about the inception of FRCs. The third will look at some early signs regarding the early success of FRCs. The fourth will examine FRCs operational structure focusing on different service providers and the last section will provide recommendation regarding the creation of a single governing body to overlook the whole FRC operations in Australia. The core princeples relating to media performance have often found clearest expression at crisis or turning points in national or media history; for instance when media were re-established in many European countries after enemy occupation during the second world war.In modern times there has been virtual unanimity that the press should enjoy full freedom of publication, within the limits set by the individual rights of citizens and, the need to safeguard the integrity and security of the state which guarantees freedom in the first place. In this framework I want to discuss the "press freedom" and why is it necessary all our life. Most scholars are in agreement that talent is a key to the sustainability and competitiveness of any country. However empirical research on talent management and its potential contribution in Southern Africa is limited. This paper reports on the available research of the significance of talent management and the subsequent factors affecting the effective application thereof in South African organisations. This paper is motivated from the fact that Southern Africa as a developing continent is in need of effective talent management for sustainable growth and economic development. Our research shows that a great diversion of opinion still exists on a suitable definition for ?talent?. As a result managers and practitioners are challenged to apply an inclusive versus and exclusive approach to talent management. Moreover our findings also highlight that management commitment towards talent remains a fundamental problem in many Southern African organisations and have a subsequent impact on the retention of scarce skills. The effective implementation and execution of talent management practices requires the adherence to legislative policies and frameworks. Our research paints a bleak picture as far as the effective and ethical applications of labour legislation towards talented employees are concerned. Gender inequality is slow to be eradicated in male dominated work environments. Age differentials prevail with talent management practices being mostly focused on Generation X employees as opposed to an older generation workforce. Talent Management also have a significant impact on individual and organisational level outcomes. We found that that poor talent management practices have a negative impact on psychological contracts, organisational commitment, work engagement, motivation, job satisfaction, happiness, meaningfulness, well-being, and retention of employees in various settings. For the organisation talent management can result in improved employee performance and subsequent quality of service delivery. In conclusion we present an integrated talent management strategy that provides a holistic guideline for how to apply the talent management process from start to finish. The main objective of this research was to determine the relationship between talent management and teacher?s intention to quit in Botswana. A quantitative research approach was followed with data collected from secondary school teachers in Botswana (N=299). A Talent Management Measure and Intention to Quit scale was administered. The data was analysed using SPSS. The results showed that talent management practices are poorly applied for teachers in the sample. Workforce planning, Performance and Talent Retention practices were the most problematic. Teachers perceived that most of the talent management practices are important with Talent Commitment the most important. Significant gaps exist between the current versus the importance of talent management practices Currently there seem to be limited empirical research studies on talent management in Botswana. Furthermore not much research has been done to determine the relationship between talent management and turnover intentions of teachers in Botswana. The results of this research will assist the Department of Education to detect the talent management problems among teachers in order to prevent future turnover. Following Schelling (1960), when persons are confronted with coordination problems often seem to do surprisingly well when focal points provide to them a point of convergence for individual expectations. I argue in the present paper that Emperor Justinian I (482 CE - 565 CE) in Byzantium followed a set of carefully chosen strategic decisions essential to promote social coordination, and with the aim to convert the city of Constantinople into a strong focal point of religious rituals. Emperor Justinian I in the spirit taken initially by the founder of the City of Constantinople Emperor Constantine?s I (272 CE - 337 CE), and more or less by all of Justinian I predecessors, had to solve a coordination problem among rational players throughout the empire. The rebuilding of the third Church of St Sophia (?Hagia Sophia?) in 562 CE following the Nika revolt in 532 CE, the protection of the property rights of the Christian church including its clergy and its monasteries, alongside the exploitation of the administrative organizational structure of the Christian church that existed within the empire, and the emperor?s stance that unity of faith is a precondition for the unity of the empire, created a strong focal point of religious rituals away from the Holy Land. OPINIONS AND SUGGESTIONS ABOUT STIGMATIZATION OF SCHIZOPHRENIA Abstract: INTRODUCTION Compared with other health professionals, a psychiatric nurse builds a greater degree of communication with individuals who have psychiatric disorders during the period of hospitalization. In this context, the main objective of this study is to illustrate the opinions and suggestions of psychiatric nurses about stigmatization of schizophrenia. Problem Statement1-What do the psychiatric nurses think about stigmatization of schizophrenia? 2-What do the psychiatric nurses think about the prevention of stigmatization of schizophrenia? MATERIALS AND METHODOLOGY In pursuit of the objective of this qualitative study, the author asked open-ended questions of 15 nurses who worked in a psychiatry clinic in a hospital in Turkey. A semi-structured form was used for these participants to put forward their suggestions and opinions about stigmatization for schizophrenia. FINDINGSAn analysis of the data set revealed that a majority of the participants described schizophrenia as a disorder characterized by a change in the perception of reality, and all of them said that the diagnosis of schizophrenia played an important role in the period of stigmatization. Moreover, they added that the period of stigmatization initiated with the diagnosis of schizophrenia. Nearly all of the nurses who participated in this study agreed that training was important in the struggle against stigmatization of schizophrenia, and it was necessary for this training to address families, society, and health professionals. In addition, it was stressed that the media's power over attitudes in society should be used positively in this struggle, and that schizophrenia patients should be treated in an integrated manner with the society. Another noteworthy finding was that two participants thought that whatever is attempted, the struggle with stigmatization of schizophrenia is impossible; the most significant reason for that being the societally stereotyped negative thoughts and prejudices towards these patients.RESULTS AND SUGGESTIONS This study concluded that it is not a realistic expectation to completely eliminate the stigmatization of schizophrenia, and that it would take a very long time to change attitudes. It should be the main aim of work against stigmatization to change incorrect judgments. To this end, programs focused on developing consciousness in families, society, and health professionals are very important.1.Instructors review the curricula of nursing programs,2.Clinicians prepare plans for in-service training, and3.Researchers conduct experimental studies and evaluate the results of these studies. The role that emotional autonomy and parental styles may play in establishing identity styles was investigated. A sample of 237 males and females students of age group 15-171/2 years was drawn from public high school in Shiraz city. These students responded emotional autonomy, parental styles and identity styles questioners. Preliminary results indicated that positive identity was positively correlated with authoritative parental style and emotional autonomy and negatively with authoritarian. Regression analyses confirmed that parental styles and emotional autonomy predict positive identity. The results indicated that emotional autonomy and parental styles variables combined accounted for %46 of the variation in strength of positive identity. The findings are consistent with the view that emotional autonomy may contribute to the way in which middle adolescents negotiate the task of constructing a sense of identity. Hence, identity style may represent one mechanism by which the cumulative effects of emotional autonomy affect psychosocial outcomes among young adults. Alternative explanations of the findings are considered. Opportunities for multigenerational intra-familial contact are increasing, as are opportunities for multiple, more transient, social encounters between generational actors in the broader population. Not surprisingly, therefore, intergenerational relationships constitute an emerging policy priority at an international level, with the United Nations? Report of the Second World Assembly on Ageing emphasising ?the need to strengthen solidarity among generations?. However, key to the actualisation of such policy drivers is the need to understand generational identification within particular socio-historical contexts. Drawing upon Alanen?s (2001, Explorations in generational analysis. In L. Alanen & B Mayall (Eds) Conceptualising child-adult relations. Ch.2: 11-22 RoutledgeFalmer. London) relational development of a Mannheimian approach to understanding generations, this paper explores processes of generational identification through the narratives of older people living in a post-industrial northern city in the UK. Paying particular attention to older people?s articulation of similarities and differences in the values and behaviours of differently positioned actors, the paper highlights the significance, as the older people recursively construct their own generational identities, of a familial generational frame. The development of corporate governance has been affected by a number of models that have been developed over the years. Thus, in our research, we are trying to determine the common elements, and also, the differences that have occured between the traditional model of corporate governance, german model, japonesse model, and also, islamic model. Taking into consideration that each country has its specific economy characteristics and also, individual culture, we intend to identify the best model that is suitable for each area. A Abstract: In our research we are trying to determine the impact of the evolution of the public expenditure of research and development on the main macroeconomic variables such us GDP growth, consumption and gross fix capital formations taken as investments in the case of the European Union. We have analysed the impact of research and development expenditure by taking into consideration the impulse response functions of a Bayesian VAR model, based on a panel approach. Our results are showing a lasting effect of the R&D expenditures on all the macroeconomic variables taken into consideration. Also, by analysing the variance decomposition we have showed that the influence of the R&D expenditures is significant in accordance with the literature review. Of these, fifty one percent were placed because they were on remand or sentenced for committing a serious offence. Thirty seven percent were placed by social services for their own protection under a child welfare order. The remaining twelve percent were held under both classifications simultaneously. The premise for housing seemingly vulnerable young people alongside potentially serious offenders, despite their differing legal status, is that residents are all ?children first and foremost? and it is therefore assumed that their needs will be the same. This binding of children as a single category makes a strong assertion about the capabilities and limitations of children and their competencies. This ESRC funded research uses participatory methods to explore girls? perspectives of the contradictions surrounding the idealised notions of childhood and the twinning of childhood with vulnerability. Chinese firms has been building strong economic ties with Asia, Latin America and Africa where they search for markets and natural resources. Developed economies of Europe and the United States also became their important targets recently, offering markets for Chinese products and assets Chinese firms lack. We can observe rising Chinese economic presence in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) too. Investment inflows are currently expected to increase further due to recent political developments, while the intensity of trade has been growing too, especially with certain countries. The aim of the paper is to analyse the characteristics of Chinese economic presence in CEE countries focusing on investment and trade flows. After the introductory section and the discussion of theory and literature, the paper presents the changing patterns and motivations of Chinese foreign economic relations. The main part of the paper describes the China-CEE economic relations highlighting the similarities and differences of Chinese practices in CEE and other developed economies. According to our first hypothesis, Chinese motivations and practices in the CEE region differ somewhat (a) from the developed countries? presence in the CEE region as well as (b) from the motivations and practices of Chinese companies in developing countries. As a second hypothesis we set that the crisis accelerated the Chinese companies? interest toward this region due to new opportunities for Chinese companies and increasing receptiveness from CEE side. The first part of this paper examines Chinese investment in the six main CEE destination countries (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia), analyzing the most important sectors, motivations, trends and differences of FDI inflow. We apply the eclectic paradigm of Dunning for explaining Chinese investments, analyzing to what extent they are valid. The second part describes trade flows between China and the main CEE partners. We find that the bulk of foreign trade between CEE countries and China can be bound to certain products and certain multinational companies. Mutual trade flows thus are largely dependent on the activities of global value chains. Finally we draw some policy implications concerning mutual economic relationship. Abstract values become more important than material sources, in this context intangible values are much more important than anything, and the most important of these are ?Corporate Reputation? and ?Service Quality?.In particular, corporate reputation is important to be addressed in health service sector. As the main point in this service is human health, how the customers perceive reputation and service quality becomes important. The frequency and content demanded from health sector is affected by the management and staff quality of organization, whether the service is reliable or not, the effectiveness of the communication in the environment and social responsibility consciousness towards society. In the light of this information, our aim is to determine whether there is a difference between the effects of corporate reputation in perceived service quality at hospitals and the perceived service quality by the customers through comparing public and private hospitals. A total of 242 juveniles of age 14-17 years old participated voluntarily in the research. The mean age of the participants was M=16.2 years (SD=1.14). 137 (56.6 %) of them are female and 103 (42.6%) of them are male. The Delinquency Scale of Wave II questionnaire was used as a data collection instrument. The Cronbach alpha coefficient (?), which was used to measure the internal consistency of the questionnaire, showed the value of .612. The T-test for independent groups was used to verify potential differences across indicator variables. Results revealed that there are no statistical differences between boys and girls on most of the variables that describe delinquent behaviours. There were only three behaviours that showed statistical differences between them: in the last 12 months, how often did you steal something worth more than fifty euros (p=.012); how often have you used or threatened to use a gun to take, steal something from someone (p=.022); and have you been part of a group, gang known in the neighborhood, or school (p=.036). In all three variables boys showed the higher mean values than girls. These results challenge the perception of our society about the expectations for delinquent behavior. We expect boys to show more delinquent behavior than girls, so there is a need for further studies involving cultural variables in order to explore more in depth the issue Length: 7 pages Creation-Date: 2015-11 Publication-Status: Published in Proceedings of the Proceedings of the 20th International Academic Conference, Madrid, Nov 2015, pages 138-144 File-URL: https://iises.net/proceedings/20th-international-academic-conference-madrid/table-of-content/detail?cid=31&iid=037&rid=5459 File-Function: First version, 2015 Number: 3105459 Classification-JEL: I29 Keywords: delinquency, gender, differences, students Handle: RePEc:sek:iacpro:3105459 Template-Type: ReDIF-Paper 1.0 Author-Name: Concepción González-Concepción Author-Name-First: Concepción Author-Name-Last: González-Concepción Author-Email: cogonzal@ull.es Author-Workplace-Name: University of La Laguna Author-Name: María Candelaria Gil-Fariña Author-Name-First: María Candelaria Author-Name-Last: Gil-Fariña Author-Email: mgil@ull.es Author-Workplace-Name: University of La Laguna Author-Name: Celina Pestano-Gabino Author-Name-First: Celina Author-Name-Last: Pestano-Gabino Author-Email: cpestano@ull.es Author-Workplace-Name: University of La Laguna Title: A dynamic analysis of relevant variables in the Spanish economy using decomposition data series with Daubechies wavelets Abstract: We illustrate some aspects of the economic situation in Spain following the dynamic of data series of six relevant economic and financial variables: A financial index (IBEX35), a row material (Crude Oil Price in euros, COP), a foreign exchange index (EUR/USD), a bonus (Spain 10-Years, S10YB), the total state debt (Spain State Debt, SSD) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) variables (from es.investing.com, indexmundi.com, www.bde.es and www.ine.es). The effect of the unexpected economic fluctuations and high dependency of the power generation system on the energy resource, results in an electrical energy cost increase and demand fluctuation, so forecasting for electricity market is an predict system. The power industry requires forecasts not only from the production perspective but also from a financial viewpoint. This paper proposes a set of forecasting methods used for the electric energy demand. Similar day approach, trend method, econometric model, end-use approach are the most frequently used techniques for energy forecasting studies. Finally, authors discuss advantages and disadvantages of each method based on the theoretical background. All of the subjects were pharmacists (n=206) of community pharmacies in Japan. Pharmacists must comply with the Pharmacist Act, and Article 24 stipulates the following regarding prescription inquiries: ?In case of any question in a prescription, a pharmacist may dispense medicine according thereto only after contacting the medical practitioner, dental practitioner or veterinarian who has issued the prescription and making clear said question (Article 24)?. Prescription inquiries are one of the important roles of the medicine professional. In this study, five question items were used to measure the intent to inquire. Each item was scored on a three-point ordinal scale (1 = unnecessary, 2 = neutral, 3 = necessary). Occupational commitment was measured using a modified version of the Affective Occupational Commitment Scale and Continuous Occupational Commitment Scale (Meyer, Allen and Smith, 1993). Responses were made on a five-point scale (1 = strongly disagree, 2 = disagree, 3 = neutral, 4 = agree, 5 = strongly agree). To improve the understanding of the occupational commitment, this study presents a series of descriptive statistics and discusses implications for future research. The study shows findings of occupational affective commitment associated with the question in the prescription. The result suggests that affective occupational commitment promotes the necessity of questions in prescription behavior. Descriptive statistics display a slight linear relationship. As for the continuous occupational commitment, there is little relationship between each question. These findings advance our understanding of the impact of the affective occupational commitment on organizational behavior. Further investigation is required to confirm this relationship in the context of organizational behavior. This research was supported by JSPS KAKENHI Grant Numbers 26380491, 15K03701. One thousand questionnaires were sent to early childhood educators from the Office of Basic Education Commission, Office of the Private Education Commission, Minster of Interior, Office of the Higher Education Commission, and Department of Education Bangkok Metropolitan Administration in Thailand. A total of 607 completed questionnaires were used to analyze the data. The questionnaires were developed with a focus group of experts, IOC: Index of Item-Objective Congruence and the Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient (0.98). They were divided into five rating scales. This study is divided into two parts: demographics of the participants and opinions of participants (principles and purpose, methods and theories, instruction, contents, environment and media, assessment, teachers and administrators, and parents and communities). Results of this study stated that Thai teachers agreed to use early childhood theories and instruction. They concerned on ages, development, and children?s interests to teach STEM education. Collaboration among schools, parents, and communities are necessary to support STEM education. Assessments on children development and observation should be used to teach STEM education. Descriptive statistics was used to compute percentage, mean, standard deviation to obtain the results. Future studies should examine the developing of STEM education for teaching kindergarten. An Analysis of Long-Term Interest Rates under the Regime of Inflation Targeting? Abstract: This paper examines the validity of the Fisher hypothesis in Sweden by analyzing inflation expectations and long-term interest rates from January 1993 to February 2015 under a regime of inflation targeting. The Fisher hypothesis holds for the maturities of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 but not 10 years. The results show that changes in inflation expectations move in the same direction and degree as nominal long-term interest rates for the maturities of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 years. This can primarily be attributed to the credibility of the inflation-targeting framework in Sweden for the last 20 years and the success it has achieved in locking inflation expectations into the target range within these maturities. In the maturity of 10 years, this credibility has never been as certain. Hidden information attacks have a negative impact on the lives of individuals and society in general. In this regard, the studies of critical thinking seem particularly important at present time.In our paper we present the project, which is devoted to the scientific, humanistic and practical aspects of multi-dimensional critical thinking and its application in the media competence development. The aim of educational part of this project is to build up an educational conception of selected courses by creating educational texts and to build up an e-learning support for concrete courses. In the scientific part the main goal of this project is formation of a system of creative scientific views based on knowledge of logic. The project is oriented first to students, university teachers, and also researchers from different areas of science, or people from arts to become familiar with the basic elements of a multi-dimensional critical thinking, which contribute to their media competence improvement and which may in turn reflect in its professional and scientific activities, but also in everyday life. A large body of literature studies the sustainability of cultural tourism. It is shown that the excessive visitation of heritage cities strongly affects sensitive urban areas (Russo 2002). The costs of congestion caused by tourism include pressure and damage on urban facilities and premises, typically, historically and culturally important buildings, monuments and artifacts which have variable degrees of ?non-excludability? and ?non-rivalry? and thus are, at least partly, public goods. Furthermore, the congestion drives citizens and firms to abandon central locations, hampering local development. Spatially differentiated taxation aimed at visitors and tourists is adopted in parts of the world which may promote a more equitable allocation of costs of tourism. However, there is a surprising lack of analytical analysis on either the impacts of tourism on heritage cities or the efficiency of tourist taxation. This paper studies the interactions between tourist tax, local public good provision, which includes protection and restoration of urban facilities/cultural heritage, and the number of tourists in a scenario of multi-regional tax competition between governments of cultural heritage cities. On the one hand, tourism has a positive effect on private income in the heritage cities, as well as government tax revenue. On the other hand however, there is a tourism-related social cost which is equivalent to ?congestion? of regular public goods. We believe that the efficiency of tourist taxation is the key to balancing the income and costs brought about by tourism. Besides traditional and direct side effects such as environmental pollution, the low level of policy acceptance in S&T field comes at a great social cost. In spite of experts? approval, the public opposition to the expansion of atomic power plant and genetically modified foods, for instance, is ongoing. The market entry of autonomous vehicle and drone are yet to be implemented because related regulations have not been fully enforced. In recent times, the impact of S&T advancement on our daily lives keeps expanding and public needs for S&T development are getting more diverse. In other words, the societal paradigm is transformed into a pluralistic society in terms of S&T policy. The policy makers in S&T field, however, still remain in elitism regime. The policy makers still do not take into consideration the fact that expert opinions on scientific knowledge is inconsistent and sometimes even antithetical in modern society due to its complexity and uncertainty, as Ulrich Beck pointed out in his book ?Risk Society? in 1986. In this regard, not only expertise and soundness of scientific knowledge, but also ?social consensus? should be considered for S&T policy making. In order to promote public scientific literacy, Korean government has executed a science culture movement since 1970s. From 2003, ?The Proliferation Program of Science Culture(PPSC)? was launched and renewed every five years. As a result, public understanding and interest in science and technology has gradually increased. However, based on our recent survey, more than half of the respondents answered that there is no sufficient communication channel to deliver their opinions to policy makers. This implies that the current science culture movement is top-down dissemination of scientific knowledge from experts to the public, although the ?interactive? communication was emphasized in PPSC. Another system to include the public in the S&T policy making process is the ?citizen panel? of ?Technology Assessment.? According to our recent survey of the citizen panel, the system is satisfactory in terms of representativeness, effectiveness, and policy-making methodology overall. However, the citizen panel was not fully satisfied with the degree of acceptance of their opinions to the final policy. Conclusively, in order to reduce the social costs resulted from the low level of public S&T policy acceptance, ?interactive? dissemination of scientific knowledge or culture, and more powerful citizen participation in policy processes are necessary. The research focuses on two types of artistic reception of the epoch. The first one is the representation of ancient stories in the frames of culture industry: it explores some cinematographic implementations of ancient stories explaining the differences between the literary sources and their modern interpretations. Some emblematic examples illustrate the social or political allusions which are to be recognized in the modern artistic representations of ancient stories. The second part of the text explores local Bulgarian festivals that include some ancient divine or heroic personage, e. g. Dionysos, Sabasius, Roman warriors, etc. The slightly altered focus of the research is due to the lack of significant cinematographic representations of antiquity in modern Bulgaria. Nevertheless, the importance of local festivals ?reconstructing? or merely related to ancient rituals constantly increases in the last few years. The explored cases include for instance traditional ?Roman? festivals celebrating the might of Roman army located in ancient provinces Thrace and Dacia (covering the territory of modern Bulgaria), some religious feasts connecting ?ancient? elements and personages with Christian saints and traditional folklore practices, etc. The curious amalgam of various religious rituals is interpreted in terms of the attempt to ?reconstruct?, i. e. to compose the past in order to gain local prestige and to fabricate a coherent religious, cultural and even political history of Bulgaria. The average representations are computed from weight and representation polytopes defined by the set of winning and losing coalitions of the game. These average representations come remarkably close to fulfilling the standard criteria for a coherent measure of voting power. They are symmetric, positive, efficient and strongly monotonic. The dummy property, which assigns zero power to powerless players, can be imposed by restricting the polytopes. The resulting restricted average representations are coherent measures of power. The defining property of the four new indices is representation compatibility, which ensures proportionality between power and weight. We believe that proportionality makes the new indices ideal measure of power for voting institutions, in which the votes are distributed to the voter based on their contribution to a fixed purse. Examples include shareholder voting in corporations and country member voting in the multilateral institutions of the Bretton Woods Accord (The World Bank, IMF).The practical significance of representation compatibility lies in institutional design. In a weighted voting game, the design is given by the voting weights and the voting rule, or the number of affirmative votes required to pass a decision. In institutions, in which the number of votes depends on the capital contributions of the voters to a purse of a given size, a voter wants to know which distributions of voting weights confer the desired power or that voter's expected share of the purse. A prime example of such an institution is the corporation. But the same principles can be used for designing any voting body, for example distributing parliamentary seats after a general election, and we provide examples for the German Bundestag and the Austrian Nationalrat. Among these immigrations, we can see the victims of human trafficking, human smuggling, refugees and those who came here to work and live. Human smuggling, which is one of the movements of illegal immigration, is the specific subject of this work. The fact that our country lies on the transportation destinations between the continents of Asia, Europe and Africa, the crime of human smuggling is highly committed in our country. The aim of the victims of human smuggling is to go to a more developed country to have higher standards of living, to get a better job and to escape from the economic and social instability of their countries. The human smuggling, which has gathered pace due to the improvements in communication and transportation, is not a regional issue and has become one of the most important problems for almost all countries.Accordingly, the reasons, methods and extent of human smuggling will be dealt firstly. Later, it will be studied why Turkey is preffered in human smuggling. Finally, statistical data will be given to show how much human smuggling has gone far in Turkey and the study will be finished with that what is being done and what can be done to prevent it. Used by athletes to increase strength, endurance and speed, AAS lead to various negative effects on the human body despite enhancing performance and strength. The purpose of this study was to investigate the morphometric effects of testosterone supplementation on certain extremity bones in young swim-trained rats. Methods: The study was conducted with a total of 24 30-day-old male Wistar rats obtained from Selcuk University Experimental Medicine Research and Application Center. The rats were divided into four equal groups of six: control (C), exercise (E), testosterone (T) and testosterone+exercise (TE) groups. The appropriate weekly dose was adjusted for the rats in the testosterone-treated group according to their body weights. The front and rear extremity bones of the materials were dissected and the uncovered humerus and femur bones were dried. The length, corpus thickness, cortex cortical thickness and medulla diameter points of each bone were determined and the morphometric measurements were taken. The results were presented as Mean±SD. Data were analyzed through comparison between the groups by using ANOVA and Duncan test. The significance level was set at P<0.05.Results: The femur and humerus lengths of the TE, T, E, and C groups were compared and the respective lengths were femur; 32.24±1.04 for the C group, 32.23±0.28 for the E group, 31.12 for the TE group and 30.72±30.93 for the T group, humerus; 25,74±0,77 for the C group, 25,66±0,25 fot the E group, 24,68±0,53 for the TE group and 24,58±0,41 for the T group. The femur and humerus bones of the rats in the groups given testosterone supplementation (TE and T) were significantly shorter than those of the rats in the other two groups (p<0.05). However, there were not any statistical differences among the TE, T, E, and C groups in terms of cortex, corpus and medullary diameter measurements of the femur and humerus bones (of p>0.05).Conclusion: The results of the study showed that testosterone supplementation stopped the growth of femur and humerus by causing premature epiphyseal closure in them. Also, even exercise did not reduce the adverse effects of testosterone supplementation. Development achieved by new technologies, especially IT technology, have enlarged market size and accelerated economic growth. Government has been focused on the servitization in the industry and started to establish national R&D plan in service for service R&D. Since 2009 the total budget for service R&D increased from 50 million dollars to 100 million dollars in 2014. Total amount is not so large but the increase rate was very high. In this study we tried to investigate the R&D products from the investigation in service R&D area from government. However, it is very difficult to measure or evaluate the results from service R&D because it is invisible and disappears as it is used. It means when we acquire good results or conclusion for R&D project they will be applied in the industry directly and it is hard to extract them only. So we studied R&D projects itself. The technologies related to the projects can be a qualitative measure. The R&D projects related to service R&D are collected and analyzed in terms of ?degree of technical convergence?. In the initial stage of investment in service R&D, the technologies related to ICT field had large ripple effect on service R&D projects, but it gradually changes. The technology such as sensibility ergonomics, health informatics, business and etc. becomes to show large ripple effects on service R&D. It is thought that the understanding on service R&D has varied from the simple enhancement in service industry by using IT technology to the study on the service activity itself even though the intrinsic character of service R&D has not been defined Length: 1 page Creation-Date: 2015-11 Publication-Status: Published in Proceedings of the Proceedings of the 20th International Academic Conference, Madrid, Nov 2015, pages 247-247 File-URL: https://iises.net/proceedings/20th-international-academic-conference-madrid/table-of-content/detail?cid=31&iid=055&rid=5430 File-Function: First version, 2015 Number: 3105430 Classification-JEL: Keywords: Service R&D, technical convergence, ICT Handle: RePEc:sek:iacpro:3105430 Template-Type: ReDIF-Paper 1.0 Author-Name: Arzu KOÇAK UYARO?LU Author-Name-First: Arzu Author-Name-Last: KOÇAK UYARO?LU Author-Email: asukocak51@gmail.com Author-Workplace-Name: Graduate School of Health Sciences Author-Name: Burcu CEYLAN Author-Name-First: Burcu Author-Name-Last: CEYLAN Author-Email: burcucey78@gmail.com Author-Workplace-Name: Graduate School of Health Sciences Title: The Opinions of Adolescents about Substance Abuse and Quit Using Substance Abstract: Substance abuse which has biological, social and spiritual dimensions is a major problem affecting the whole community, especially young people. It seems to start at a young age the addiction and the rate of substance abuse is higher in young age in the world and in our country .In this study, it aimed to determine the opinions of adolescents about substance abuse and non-abuse of substance and quit using substance. Designed on the model of appropriate qualitative research of this study was conducted with AMATEM hospitalized in the clinical adolescents and adolescents who had never met substances. Data were collected using semi-structured interview form, encoding is used and were analyzed using data reduction method by the investigators with 20 individuals who accepted to participate. When the data set analyzed; it is seen that dependent adolescents defined the addiction as a habit with no barriers, friend and associated with substance deprivation crisis. Peer influence and domestic problems were also identified as the main cause of the addiction. If those are non-dependent adolescents have described the addiction mostly as to get away from problems and associated with early death. They also stated that the addiction is due to the emulation and curiosity. All participants emphasized that the basic factor for cessation of the addiction is self control and cessation responsibility belongs to dependent person but in long-term substance use is too hard to cessation. It is seen that dependent adolescents stated that the treatment is espacially difficult because of substance deprivation crisis while all of non-dependent adolescents expressed that addiction can be treated. At the same time, all participants conceived that services related to the treatment of the substance abuse should be continuously and free, both the adolescents and the family-oriented training should continue in the post treatment and increasing leisure time activities is important during the treatment process. As a result, the perceptions about substance abuse and addiction process of dependent and non-dependent adolescents are made difference. Contunity of treatment services, education programs appear to be similar to the views on the holistic approach. In this regard it is important to offer a holistic approach to treatment services and after the treatment, supporting the adolescent and family with periodic monitoring traning programs. This freedom is embedded in the right to education. The United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights views education as a window to other rights. Institutional autonomy speaks to self-regulation or the right of self-government; self-determination; autonomy with respect to local or internal matters. Academic freedom (and institutional autonomy) is a constitutional right in South Africa. There is debate whether there is a threat to the constitutionally guaranteed academic freedom in South Africa. This comes from the background that universities often function as centres of political and intellectual dissent, and regimes are thus reluctant to allow institutions the freedom and autonomy that may contribute to instability. This paper looks at academic freedom and institutional autonomy in South Africa before and after 1994. The pre-1994 era grouped the universities into two ? the open universities, which enjoyed many privileges and the ?other? universities which were tightly controlled by the government. The post-1994 era saw the national Constitution guaranteeing academic freedom. The new government adopted new policies creating a unitary tertiary education system. This was built around the ?cooperative governance? framework. However, with dynamics in the higher education system, this framework had to be amended. The amendments give the government more powers to intervene where necessary. Whatever justification, increased government involvement has implications on academic freedom and institutional autonomy. Therefore, individuals with dementia were administered the Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) based on the Roy Adaptation Model(RAM) and its suitability for Turkish culture was evaluated. Methods:Firstly, the original applicationbook of the Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, which will be implemented on the basis of RAM was translated into Turkish by the researcher.CST consists of a total of 14 different sessions and it is administered in two sessions per week. Each session lasts 45 minutes on average. After the Turkish version of the CST was reviewed by the researcher and the Turkish form was sent to an expert for back-translation into English. There were some differences of expression in the new form of therapy compared with the original expressions in the form. The researcher contacted the developer of the therapy, Roy,via e-mail, explained these differences, and asked whether these differences would cause any problems and if the current form could be used or not. Following the structuring process of the CST, RAM compliance process began. The program was arranged in the light of the opinions from the four experts and translated back into English and sent again to Roy via e-mail. The final version of the program was shaped in line with Roy?s suggestions and the pilot study was conducted at Family Health Center with four individuals, two women and two men, who were diagnosed with dementia and who met the inclusion/exclusion criteria. For each of the subjects, the process of achieving the desired goals with RAM was monitored by filling out the form for ?Monitoring Adaptation?individually at the end of each session. In addition, the pre-and post-therapy Coping-Adjustment Scale, Mini Mental Test and the Quality Of Life- Scale-Alzheimer Disease were administered. Results and Conclusion: The subjects? mean age was 76.41±3.52?dir.While the subjects? total score was 49 on the form for ?Monitoring Adaptation? in the first session, it increased to 74 in the 14th session (the last session). Also, the mean scores on the pre- and post-therapy Coping-Adjustment Scale, the MMSE and the QOL-AD increased. The RAM-based CST was shown to be appropriate for the subjects. Therefore, transactions in securities and speculation in Islamic financial market are different from all the world's stock markets because those transactions are not based on uncertainty (gharar) like futures or options nor on the interest rate such as bonds but on consent on the price of the goods before any transaction, that should not be in sharia?s prohibited areas.Currently, Islamic finance receives government interest because it is one of the new sources of funding. Moreover, it has led them to review their laws and regulations relating to financial markets to adapt the tax system to capture part of financial flows from the oil economies (Gulf countries). The total of outstanding of Islamic finance in the world at the end of 2012 is estimated at 1.350 billion US dollars of which 94% is concentrated in 10 countries , and although some expectations of Islamic financial market based on Islamic assets (managed by the precepts of Sharia law) from the Islamic banks, insurance companies (takaful) and investment funds established in over 75 countries around the world, those outstanding could reach 4.5 trillion of US dollars in 2020, however, the weight of Islamic finance will remain small because it represents only 1% of the conventional financial markets. As a result, how can these Islamic financial products and structures can attract worldwide investors whatever the place of the transaction? Can we develop standards of comparisons of risk, profitability and indices of Murabaha (represents 60% of all Islamic financial activities), in addition to Mudaraba (speculation) and Musharaka (represent 20% of all Islamic financial activities)? And in the absence of these criteria are there elements for attraction or repulsion of investors in the Islamic financial market? From this angle, with what methodology can we use the classic methods used by researchers to understand the investment returns or profitability of Islamic portfolio? The government of Zimbabwe in its efforts to stimulate trade and socioeconomic development has formulated a five year export strategic blue-print for the resuscitation of clothing value chain. However, to date, no visible movement towards the implementation of the export strategy has materialised. The sector is on the brink of collapse due to the influx of cheap foreign imports. The welfare and livelihood of over two million people dependent on the sector are severely threatened due the continued non-performance of the sector. An understanding of the barriers to strategy implementation improves strategy implementation success.A case study design was used in this research. Firstly, desk research on industry reports and the media was conducted followed by key informant interviews to understand the barriers causing inertia in the implementation of the export strategy. Cotton farmers? representatives, cotton ginners association, the spinning industry , garment manufacturers, clothing retailers, workers? unions and government representatives were important sources of information towards the discovery of the barriers. From the research, leadership, consensus and commitment deficiencies could be the major barriers (among others) militating against the implementation of the export strategy in the clothing value chain. There is also a lack of trust among the value chain actors leading to the dislocation of efforts resuscitate the sector. Trust building may be needed to align the different value chain relationships and actions to enable the successful implementation of the export strategy in clothing sector of Zimbabwe. The successful implementation of the export strategy in the sector is expected to regenerate the whole economy as the viability of the clothing sector has a ripple effect from agricultural input suppliers to retail functions of the economy. Simultaneously, many researchers point to the necessity of employability enhancement for employees? long-term career development. However, knowledge about employees? employability and factors influencing it in the public organizations is still limited. The purpose of this paper is to answer the following questions: what factors determine employees? employability in the public sector and what are the conditions of its maintenance and enhancement in the Polish public organizations.MethodThe aims of the paper are realized by presenting the results of the literature study based on the comparison of approaches to employability in the private sector with the reality of the Polish public organizations? functioning, which is provided in the context of the changes in the practice of HRM in the public sector. The paper reviews concepts of employability and considers how they have evolved over time. It also explains why employability of employees has become a subject of interest in the changing public organizations and seeks to identify factors which decide about employees? employability and conditions of its maintenance and enhancement in Polish public organizations.FindingsThe conducted literature study shows that employability is a complex phenomenon, which can be analyzed from different but interconnected perspectives, i.e. the individual, organizational and socio-economic perspectives. It was also found that transformation of public organizations, change of the required profile of employees? competences and new conditions of the psychological contract result in difficult challenges to employees, which they will be able to face only if they continuously enhance their employability. However, public organizations should support them in these efforts.OriginalityThe downsizing of public employment and the requirements for human resources flexibility, which are accompanied with the difficult situation on the labour market, made maintenance and enhancement of employability of public sector employees? become an important problem, not only on the individual level but also on organizational and social levels. The paper provides deeper insight into specific factors determining employability of public sector employees as well as conditions of its enhancement distinctive for public organizations. It should be noted that these issues have been mostly examined in the context of commercial organizations. *The project was funded from the resources of the National Science Centre (Poland) granted by the decision no. In this study, we conduct conditional demand analyses to break down total household electricity consumption into a set of demand functions for electricity usage, across 13 appliance categories. We then examine how the socioeconomic characteristics of the households explain their appliance usage. Analysis of micro-level data from the Nation Survey of Family and Expenditure in Japan reveals that the family and income structure of households affect appliance usage. Specifically, we find that the presence of teenagers increases both air conditioner and dishwasher use, labor income and nonlabor income affect microwave usage in different ways, air conditioner usage decreases as the wife?s income increases, and microwave usage decreases as the husband?s income increases. Furthermore, we find that households use more electricity with new personal computers than old ones; this implies that the replacement of old personal computers increases electricity consumption. However a recent Irish study, based on interviews with Irish stockbrokers and funds managers, appears to contradict the widely held view among academics that taxation effects the valuation of dividend income. This study considers, in the light of that evidence, whether Irish shareholders are indeed indifferent to the differential taxation treatment of dividends and retained profits by examining the impact of a major change in the taxation of capital gains and dividend income in Ireland on 3rd December 1997 after which dividends were and continue to be taxed at more than double the tax rate on capital gains. We conclude that consistent with recent qualitative evidence Irish shareholders appear indifferent to the differential taxation treatment of dividends and retained profits and therefore the notion that a particular company may appeal to a particular clientele of shareholders is not supported in an Irish context. It seems that for the students in primary, and especially, in secondary school, the textbooks are still today an important source of information. A considerable part of the time the students spend in their classroom and doing their homework is involved in textbook material. The goal of the study was to find out how well sixth graders (11?12 year-olds) comprehend the textbooks used in the sixth grade history and natural sciences classes; and if there are differences in the girls? and boys? reading comprehension skills. Altogether, 247 students (122 girls and 125 boys) took part in the study. About half of them read the text about whales in their natural science book and the other half the text about the great wall in China in their history book. After reading the text, the students answered ten questions and explained the meaning of the ten words underlined in the text. The results show that the students in both groups had no difficulties in answering those questions to which the answers were directly found in the texts. However, those questions proved to be difficult that required inference skills. The girls succeeded in both groups significantly better than the boys in answering the questions (t= 3.57, p= .000; t= 2.73, p= .008). For instance, there were two questions related to the history book chapter that not a single boy was able to answer correctly. Deriving the meaning of the words from the text context and explaining them proved to be even more demanding. The girls were significantly more skilful in explaining the words in the natural sciences book than the boys (t= 2,70, p= .008) but in explaining the meanings of the history book concepts there was no significant difference between the genders. The results of the study show that there are many students who enter secondary school with very poor reading comprehension skills. Therefore, it is important that the students are taught to comprehend texts related to different school subjects. They should learn to choose the best strategies when reading various types of texts. The textbooks of different school subjects may be constructed differently and contain different vocabulary and concepts. Consequently, the students need to be taught how the text context helps to understand the meaning of an unfamiliar word. However, at the same time, limited resources hinder the possibilities to develop health promoting measures on the local level, in municipalities and in health centres offering primary health services for local residents. In this paper, an example is given of how a local university of applied sciences and its students can work as enablers of health promotion in collaboration with regional health service providers. When working in real-life development projects, the students gain experience at the same time as the health care sector and the local residents benefit from the end results, providing a win-win situation for all parties. A case in point is the development process of two Self-Care Stations in two municipalities in the western Uusimaa region in southern Finland, in the municipalities of Karkkila and Vihti. The Self-Care Stations are easy-access services for giving opportunities to monitor one?s health and get information by oneself, at a suitable time, in order to take more responsibility for the self-management of one? own health. At the same time, Self Care Stations relieve the nurses? time from blood pressure measurements to be devoted to life-style counselling. The Self Care Stations have proven to be an important part of the service palette of the health centres. The study uses two input variables (credit hours and number of academic staff members) as well as two output variables (number of graduating students and research output). Two models, constant returns to scale (CRS) and variable returns to scale (VRS) are used to estimate the efficiency scores. The results reveal that four out of the five faculties are technically efficient according to the VRS approach and only three faculties are efficient when the CRS model is applied. Financial institutions deliver online services via various electronic channels, subsequently diminishing the importance of conventional branch networks. This study proposed an integrated data mining and customer behavior scoring model to manage existing mobile banking users in an Iranian bank. This segmentation model was developed to identify groups of customers based on transaction history, recency, frequency, monetary background. It classified mobile banking users into six groups. This study demonstrated that identifying customers by a behavioral scoring facilitates marketing strategy assignment. Then the bank can develop its marketing actions. Thus, the bank can attract more customers, maintain its customers, and keep high customers' satisfaction. Firms are to choose reliable financial techniques in order to prevent such risks and to guarantee the cost of their goods. While the firms importing goods wish the goods to be delivered within the period that has been defined in the contract, others exporting goods also want to receive the rate of the goods and/or services sold in a secure way and on time. At this point, economic power of the countries to and from which goods are imported /exported, their geopolitical position, political stability in those countries and defining the payment methods used in foreign trade play an important role.In our study, after looking through different payment methods used in international trading, it was aimed at giving detailed and comparative information about Bank payment Obligation that is a new and bank-security payment method to ease exporters? expanding on international trade under the leadership of Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), a system providing electronic fund transfer among the banks all around the world. EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE FROM NIGERIA Abstract: The main objective of this paper is to ascertain empirically the impact of government expenditure on economic development in Nigeria. The time series data for this study spans from 1981 through 2013. The study adopts the Cointegration analysis. The Error Correction model shows that the various functional government expenditures were statistically significant and have positive relationship with gross domestic product. However, government expenditures on education and health have no significant impact on economic development in the short term. The coefficient of the Error correction model showed that the deviation of gross domestic product from its long-run equilibrium value will be reconciled quickly. On the whole, our study reveals that public spending enhances economic development in the long term and that a long run relationship exists between government expenditure and economic development in Nigeria. Empirical Evidence Abstract: Ever since the Sala-i-Martin?s and Barro?s and Mankiw et al.?s well recognized studies, the issue of income-level convergence has gained huge popularity in the literature. The two most common concepts of convergence were proposed: beta convergence (when less developed countries grow faster) and sigma convergence (when income differences between economies decrease over time). However, parallel to the classical definitions and methods of analysis, the concept of stochastic convergence has been theoretically and empirically developed. With the gradual development of panel data based stationarity tests, the range of tools available for empirical analysis has rapidly increased and there currently exist numerous tools that allow to verify empirically the existence of stochastic convergence. Its idea, dating from the early nineties and described fully by e.g. Bernard & Durlauf (1995), is to define convergence on the basis of time series rather than cross section, though recently both concepts have been seriously developed due to popularity of panel data studies. Contrary to the beta-convergence-type thinking in which it is the current situation and the recent influence of the lagged GDP on current growth, in the case of stochastic convergence it is the expected value of future differences between the GDP levels in different countries that are taken into account. In the case when there is stochastic convergence, the basic concept is to expect the difference between the level of development to be zero in the infinite time horizon. Empirics show, however, that the two approaches: the beta real GDP convergence and the stochastic convergence do not provide the same conclusions. For example in numerous cases the beta convergence is found to exist whereas there apparently is no stochastic convergence. Thus the two approaches considered parallelly are inconclusive as regards the existence of convergence understood as ?the less developed catch up on the better developed? in any sense. The paper discusses the strengths and weaknesses of these two concepts of convergence and attempts to answer which should be treated as a closer-to-real-life measure of the existence of the catching-up process in view of the existing discrepancies. Empirical data from different countries are used and the modern techniques such as the Bayesian model averaging are applied when estimating the appropriate regressions. The analysis suggests superiority of the beta convergence approach, however its advantage over the stochastic convergence approach is revealed mostly when the considered time series are short. Debriefing improves the decision makers? performance in dynamic tasks, however, its impact on the decision making process is understudies. By incorporating the two types of debriefing, (i) outcome-oriented and process-oriented, in the design of a simulation-based interactive learning environment (ILE), this study provides an empirical, laboratory-experiment-based evaluation of the effectiveness of debriefing on decision process in dynamic tasks. We develop and use a comprehensive model consisting of four evaluation criteria: task performance, structural knowledge, heuristics knowledge, and transfer learning. We ?nd that the subjects provided with process-oriented debriefing performed better on structural knowledge and transfer learning. Contrary to the hypotheses, subjects provided with outcome-oriented debriefing on task performance, and both the groups performed equally on heuristics knowledge. It provides suggestions to formulate internal whistle blowing policies for companies. It concludes that due to the culture of the people and the taxonomy of Malaysian public listed companies and companies in other countries in the Asia-Pacific region, having laws to encourage and protect whistle blowers to get rid of corporate wrong-doings is not necessarily the only solution. The article defines whistle blowing and the benefits of encouraging whistle blowers. It proceeds to highlight the issues of concern on whistle blowing. It also deliberates particular issues of whistle blowing in Malaysia by discussing the taxonomy of Malaysian public listed companies, the strength of the regulators in enforcement, the Malaysian culture and the Malaysian corporate scandals. The article elaborates on the whistle blowing laws in Malaysia and concludes by providing alternate ways to encourage whistle blowing in Malaysian companies having in mind the taxonomy of Malaysian companies and enforcement by regulators. It will present not only the context of English language acquisition in Bulgaria, but also the development of multicultural awareness and tolerance in the language classroom. The new concepts of teaching intercultural communication and competence promote the idea that they are not free from language learning and language-in-culture. The main goal of the ETA program is to improve the quality of English language teaching and learning in Bulgaria by assigning native speakers with adequate academic credentials to (English) language high schools all over the country and especially in underdeveloped regions. This model has real importance as it represents training by native speaker who functions as an intercultural moderator. The main goals of the research are:?To promote the Fulbright program ?To strengthen educational advising.?To promote cultural sensitivity among Americans and Bulgarians.English language skills and intercultural communication should better be taught by native speakers. It is not only because they are a priceless tool and a natural way for learning English, but meanwhile they teach intercultural communication and intercultural competence. Also they use interactive and productive methods of teaching and presenting American and British culture and conversational English. Nineteen of the twenty-eight EU member states are part of the EuroZone, while other EU states, including Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Romania, are required by treaty to eventually join. Even if the euro is destined to replace the dollar, it will happen slowly, and not cause a dollar collapse. Another reason why the shift to the euro, if it occurs, would happen slowly is because of the eurozone crisis. The European debt crisis is a multi-year debt crisis that has been taking place in several eurozone member states since the end of 2009. These states (Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Spain,Cyprus) were unable to repay or refinance their government debt or to bail out over-indebted banks under their national supervision without the assistance of third parties like the EFSF, the ECB, or the IMF.Portugal?s foreign debt-financed deficit?over 10 percent of GDP in 2009?meant that when investors withdrew, the country could no longer finance itself. This paper aims to draw a parallel between the Portuguese crisis and other European countries in similar situations with an in-depth analysis of the foreign exchange structure prevalent in the Eurozone. It will also infer common points surrounding these crises and examine possible solutions and safeguards for the future. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the process by which the corporation participates in the welfare activities of both internal as well as external community by actively assisting in the improvement in the quality of life of the people in the community in which it operates. Corporates can create social value as much as business value for themselves and the two should always preferably go together. Some companies like British Petroleum, Apple, Wal-Mart, Tata and Birla though appear as the real pioneers of CSR, but this paper delves into the reality of how these companies try to use CSR as a tool to cloak their irresponsibility. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs in India deserves a high mention in this regard, as India became the first country in the world to make CSR mandatory for companies crossing a particular threshold as per its laws. Section 135 of the Indian Companies Act, 2013 has been enforced even after staunch opposition from the corporate sector and remains a watershed achievement for the Indian government. Though many companies have already started flouting the new rules, the government has not risen up to the situation. This paper proposes some reforms by which the new rules could be properly enforced, and the companies can be made aware that by promoting CSR they are giving their due back to the society. According to Tezcan (1982), it is the residual time that people using freely and relaxingly on the purpose of deriving career and entertainment, remaining after the time period they are using of continue to their work lives and fulfill their physiological needs. As for recreation, it is the activities that people do voluntarily and without any degree of pressure or compulsion, in their leisure time residual after working time and the time they are fulfilling their compulsory needs (Karaküçük and Gürbüz, 2007). This study addresses the comparison of certain theories such as compensation, spillover, leisure theory of Neulinger, flow, surplus energy, relaxation, preparation, psychoanalysis, catharsis, work and leisure of John Kelly, leisure pyramid of Iso-Aloha, leisure of Dumazedier, leisure class and personality in leisure , that have an impact on leisure time and recreation. It is inevitable not to remark people?s attitude and behavior to leisure time as it is a differentiating factor from person to person. This study aspires to point out theories that explain the perception of leisure time in people?s mind and make connections between them, as it is so important when it comes to marketing of recreation activities. In this study, it is tried to understand people?s attitude to leisure time and perspective to recreation, in consideration of mentioned theories. In this way, it is also pointed out the different approaches that are explaining the leisure time and recreation behavior of person, which recreation marketers have to take into consideration when they design leisure time activities. Abstract: This paper investigates the determinants of equity capital flows by global investment funds to emerging economies during 1998-2013. In particular, we investigate whether sovereign credit ratings, global push or domestic pull factors are important determinants of equity flows. We show that credit ratings are not significant as an indicator of equity flows to emerging economies when economic variables available to investors are included in the model. Of the economic variables, two are consistently significant determinants of equity flows: instability in international financial market as measured by the VIX index and US money growth. We find that increased instability reduces capital inflows while the growth of the US money base has spilled over (with a lag) into increased equity flows to emerging economies, especially during the period following the collapse of Lehman. It is also become apparent that there are very limited references to the phrase before 2000; meanwhile, since then various articles encompassing the phrase have been published. Subsequently, it becomes noticeable that the term ?blended learning? has been grasped ? in fact a growing body of literature on blended learning (BL) that is providing evidence on the fact that its use is undoubtedly on the rise in higher education The purpose of this paper is to explore the process of ?blended learning? in the context of higher education practice in a South African Higher Education Institution. A further aspect of this paper is to provide a discussion of the transformative potential of blended learning in the context of the challenges facing higher education in an emerging market such as South Africa. It is maintained that educationally useful research on blended learning needs to focus on the relationships between different modes of learning (for example, face-to-face and on-line) and especially on the nature of their integration. Blended approaches to learning are not just popular technology driven ideas and gadgets that will disappear as fast as they come. Blended learning strategies exemplify how higher education could revisit and strengthen the essential values and practices that have been seriously compromised over the last half-century. A supposition is that blended learning is consistent with the values of traditional higher education institutions and has the established ability to enhance both the effectiveness and efficiency of significant learning experiences. This paper concludes with a conceptual framework for the best practice of blended learning in higher education. Research evidence suggests that South African Human Resources practitioners are convinced that their value-added status as HR `professionals' will only transpires through the reinvention of the South African human resources management profession. This article examines how South African HR managers and practitioners interpret professionalisation and whether the internalization of this ideal results in an increase in professional identity. The findings suggest that while many HR practitioners and managers gain greater self-worth and understanding of professional identity, this does not equate to a broader acceptance by the broader community as a member of a `profession'. This paper concludes with a framework to guide the professionalisation of HR practitioners in the South African workplace. Ethical approval from the Ethics Committee of Clinical Researches and written informed consent from the participants were obtained. Data were collected using Self-Efficacy Scale in Type 2 Diabetics, Metabolic Control Follow-Up Schedule, Blood Sugar Follow-Up Form, Medication Use Follow-Up Schedule, Walking Follow-Up Schedule, Food Consumption Record Form and Behaviour Change Stage Diagnostic Form in Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Interviews were carried out once a month or once in 15 days for a period of 30-45 minutes when they were suitable. By the end of the study, 9.12±1.20 motivational interviews on average were held. Data were analysed with Independent Samples t test for normal distributed variables; Mann-Whitney U and Wilcoxon test for non-normally distributed variables. Chi-square test was used for comparing categorical variables. p<0.05 was set as statistically significant. It was found at the end of the study that self-efficacy score and the number of steps increased and metabolic parameters (fasting blood glucose, HbA1c, body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, blood pressure, blood lipids (except for HDL-C)) decreased on the sixth month compared to the first follow-up in the intervention group. The differences between follow-ups were significant (except for HDL-C) (p<0.05) while the difference in self-efficacy, fasting blood glucose, postprandial blood glucose, HbA1c, body weight, body mass index, waist circumference were significant compared to the control group except for blood pressure and blood lipids (p<0.05). It was determined that an increase was provided in the number of individuals who are in the action phase for nutrition, exercise and medication use which was significantly different compared to the control group (p<0.05).It was determined that Transtheoretic Model based motivational interview increased the level of self-efficacy, improved metabolic parameters and a progress was made in the nutrition, exercise and medication use behaviour stages within six months in the individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Abstract: ?Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction.?-Martin Luther King, Jr.Even after 160 countries have abolished the death penalty in law or in practice, India is still one of those 58 countries which hands out the death penalty. The hanging of Mumbai Terror attack convict Yakub Menon on July 20, 2015 who had killed 257 and injured many others in the 1993 blasts has reinitiated the age old debate on the validity of death penalty in a nation which is a firm believer of the Gandhian Principal, ?An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.? This debate correctly impels a moral and philosophical issue of whether in this era of globalization where human rights, specially ?Right to Life? are given the utmost importance in the International arena should India lag behind and execute convicts disregarding the consistent uprising against such actions by human rights activists worldwide. This paper delves into the subject in three parts. The first part introduces the debate on the viability of Death Penalty given to Yakub Menon throughout which the author critically analyses the execution of the terror convict Yakub Menon and puts forth her views in relation to the same. The Second Part relates to the interplay of ?death penalty? and the ?Fundamental Right to Life under Article 21 of the Constitution of India.? In this part the author studies various landmark judgments of the Supreme Court of India and the recently released Consultation Paper by the Government of India in May, 2014. The third part illustrates the journey of Death Penalty in India by describing the concept of ?hanging till death? just after India got its Independence in 1947 where it was compulsory for the courts to give death sentences in various cases to its now refined version where death penalty is given only in the ?rarest of rare cases.? Finally, the author after exploring the historical and societal reasons for retention of death penalty in India will suggest a way out of the given disorder and chaos and illustrate how India has not completely disregarded the ?international human rights issues? and will in-turn pose the question- ?whether India was really wrong to hang Yakub Menon?? On the other hand, as a general rule, the Japan Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (JGAAP) applies amortization from a period of up to 20 years using the straight line method. This is a major cause of the financial results of the JGAAP differing from international accounting standards and this issue has been a topic of great interest in the business world.Although Accounting Standards Board of Japan (ASBJ) was considering goodwill accounting, they decided to continue to use the amortization method because many investigations and reviews began to point out problems of the approach. In 2014, ASBJ published a discussion paper with European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) and Organismo Italiano di Contabilità (OIC) and suggested a reintroduction of the amortization method.Problems with ?impairment-only? accounting include accounting methods and disclosure methods, but the usefulness of disclosed information is a particularly important issue. In this study, we investigate the usefulness of goodwill impairment information in regard to these problems. Specifically, its impact has been analyzed by using the method of event study based on the type of information and industry.News about goodwill impairment varies, and in some cases different information is reported in the same article. Therefore, we divided the information into three types. The first is the news where goodwill impairment information of goodwill was reported alone, the second where information reported in the same article is good news, and the third is bad news. Results of analysis of all samples confirmed that the negative impact of goodwill impairment news on stock price lasts at least 5 business days, namely one week. Concerning results of analysis based on the type of the information, the impact was the strongest and lasted the longest in the case of bad news. Finally, results of analysis divided into manufacturing and non-manufacturing confirmed the information impact in both industries, and the impact of manufacturing is stronger and lasts longer. These results showed that goodwill impairment information has a negative impact on corporate value in Japan. Youth unemployment during last years increased in all parts of the world, with the impact of prolonging the duration of unemployment. The programme presented is based on connecting vocational rehabilitation, education institutions and labour market as the key to successful integration into labour. In Slovenia, the transition of youth with disabilities from school to the labour market has not been satisfactory. Youth with disabilities are often left to themselves after finishing the education. Many of them stay at home, some register at the Employment Service of Slovenia, others enter vocational rehabilitation programs, and rare individuals become employed. Often a young person enters vocational rehabilitation after many years of having stayed at home unemployed and having lost the basic employability skills, professional knowledge, working habits and confidence. The action research theory was set as a framework for the training model. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used. Participants were trainers (15) and young people with disabilities (50) in the education system. To implement a successful and effective practice model of the transition of youth from school to labour in Slovenia, Racio Social, University Rehabilitation Institute and Auris launched a three-year project which started in December 2011 and closed in December 2013.The project comprised an analysis of the current transition from school to the Slovene labour market, theoretical and practice models, presentation of global good practices and a training program for transition trainers. At first, trainers were given training for working with transition of youth PwD. Young people with disabilities met with employers and gained practical insight into what awaits them when they successfully complete their studies and become active job seekers.A possible solution of vocational rehabilitation from education to labour market is presented. Abstract: Historically, the term rape is derived from ?raptus? which implies violent theft, applied to both property and person. Thereby, a woman?s abduction or sexual molestation, merely used to be the theft of a woman against the consent of her guardian or those with legal power over her. The injury was, therefore, against her father or husband, women being wholly owned subsidiaries. Marriages in India are considered as a sacrament. Matrimony binds the wife to her husband in such a way that she is duty-bound to submit to his wishes. Marital rape refers to intercourse that a husband has with his wife against her will. In India, this concept is rejected by the law, because it is believed that a woman who has married a man has impliedly consented to having sexual relations with him. Unless a woman is below the age of 15, she cannot be ?raped? by her husband. As a consequence, it is not a crime to force your wife into sexual intimacy. Statistics indicate that marital rape and related offences (such as domestic violence) are highly prevalent in India. The patriarchal tones of the Indian society are also to be blamed, because husbands consider it a matter of right to demand intercourse from their wives. This paper attempts to highlight the plight of married women in India and advocates the criminalization of marital rape in India. The paper draws strength from the fact that more than 50 countries have already held marital rape as a heinous crime. It attempts to look at the state of affairs in some of those countries and compare them with India. Moreover, it does so in the light of the societal conditions prevalent in India, which tend to give men a dominant position over women in all walks of life, from boardroom to the bedroom. Rape, in any form, is a humiliating, degrading and violent act and not merely an outdated concept of penile/vaginal penetration. Restricting the understanding of rape acknowledges that these husbands treat rape as merely sexual intercourse and not violence and hence, condone such behaviour. Instead of making the wife worship husband?s whims, especially sexual, while considering marital relations as practically sacrosanct, it needs to thrive on mutual trust and respect. The Indian law, therefore, needs to evolve with the time and recognize the right of its women to say NO. As it has been indicated in a number of reports, a support programme for the establishment of TTO was commenced in 2005 in Latvian universities in order to improve technology transfer system for the improvement of cooperation between scientists and entrepreneurs and ensuring more efficient introduction of research results in production. Establishment of six TTO was supported within an open competition. The year of 2008 marks further TTO development, when eight TTO commenced / continued operation in Latvian universities. Between 2008 and 2013 performance of TTO was ensured within the operational programme ?Entrepreneurship and Innovation? (financed by the European Regional Development Fund) and aimed at supporting and promoting activities regarding knowledge and technology transfer. Performance of TTO was assessed quantitatively within the project. However, qualitative performance indicators of TTO must be identified in order to characterize TTO contribution to the technology transfer system. Objectives of the research are as follows: identification of the qualitative performance indicators of TTO by singling out benefits gained by the parties involved in technology transfer process. Research included both secondary and primary data. Primary data were obtained by the qualitative method of data collection: semi-structured interview with the heads and specialists of Latvian TTO.All the above mentioned resulted in identification of the qualitative performance indicators of TTO and benefits of the parties involved in technology transfer process (scientists, management of a universities, entrepreneurs). Majority of the heads and specialists of TTO admitted ? it was important to establish and strengthen cooperation of the university with representatives of the sector to achieve quantitative indicators, therefore, firstly, establishment of the scientists? contacts with the industry was considered. The contacts obtained by scientists should be assessed as one of the most significant qualitative achievements of TTO. Secondly, understanding of scientists regarding their role and benefits within the process of provision of research services and commercialization of scientific developments was formed. The majority of TTO staff indicates that the management of university view systematic establishment of internal processes related to registration procedure of intellectual property rights, process of commercialization of scientific developments and licensing procedure as a benefit. The party involved in the technology transfer ? entrepreneurs ? has admitted the following benefits to the heads and specialists from TTO: existence of a unified information centre in scientific institutions, as well as decrease of bureaucratic burden. Therefore, it is important to create an atmosphere of social cohesion among these different ethnicities. Education, particularly, can play a key role in expediting such cohesion. A 30 year war had seriously damaged social cohesion between Sinhala majority and the Tamil minority. Moreover, intermittent ethnic atrocities between Tamils and Muslims as well as Sinhalese and Muslims have further soured social cohesion among these three ethnic groups. Consequently, it is imperative that social cohesion be created to develop a healthy society in Sri Lank. Education is considered as a key instrument in bringing about understanding between different ethnic groups living in the same country. The present research is undertaken with a view to determining to what extent the teaching of Citizenship Education in Sri Lankan secondary influences social cohesion. Documents, interviews were the main methods of data collection. Initial findings reveal that teachers are not adequately trained to handle Citizenship Education. Document analysis shows that lessons related to social cohesion are relatively less in the syllabus of Citizenship Education. Moreover, teachers are compelled to teach social cohesion in mostly mono-ethnic atmospheres. Abstract: Authentic assessments are closely aligned with activities that take place in real work settings, as distinct from the often artificial constructs of university courses. The undergraduate law degree differs from many other degrees, in that it requires arguments to be constructed, at even the most academic level. While the traditional ?paper-based? assessment strategy provides a pragmatic solution to the problem of a general lack of time and resources to grade students en masse, the authors believe that the use of authentic assessment techniques, in accredited and university-run extra and co-curricular activities (ECCAs), are perfectly placed to augment legal education. As long as the ECCAs are delivered with academic law degree learning outcomes taken under consideration, and are rigorously delivered by staff who are trained and experienced to elicit optimum student performance, students will benefit from authentic assessment in other indirectly connected areas of their academic lives.By delivering authentic assessments methods in ECCAs, a combination of formative and summative techniques used throughout the assessment processes improves student performance, which thereby has positive cross-impact onto law degree academic performance. This two-way communicative assessment strategy allows students to benefit from continuous mid-assessment feedback, which serves to best demonstrate the adversarial nature of the legal system and the demands placed on lawyers to provide clear, simple, usable legal advice ? a skill best learned in the ECCA authentic assessment environment, rather than in the artificial ?one-shot? approach to traditional coursework and paper-based exam assessments, which provides primarily a summative assessment and/or a weak/unusable formative element in future assessments. Further benefits, such as increased confidence in critical reasoning skills, also improves the students? academic performance.Since authentic assessment is a two-way process, the authors assert that the deployed techniques improve teaching performance on the law degree programmes by encouraging the identification of crucial critical analysis points in legal topics, and rewarding the construction of legal arguments. The authors have constructed a set of interactive questions which demonstrates that traditional paper-based assessment strategies are not the optimum way to monitor and improve teaching practices, and that authentic assessment, when used in conjunction with ECCAs, improves student performance on the academic law degree programme. An international perspective Abstract: The right to a healthful environment gained global recognition with the growing trend in environmental consciousness and development of human awareness over the past decades. This human right is interlinked to our environment because an ecosystem which is otherwise will affect all living organisms to the very root of their existence. It is said that the right to a healthful environment is the flagship of all fundamental human rights. This stems from the indubitable fact that the survival of mankind is totally dependent on a clean, healthy and pollution-free environment. This paper delves into the constitutions of 23 nations in 6 different continents, with the right to a healthful environment as the central theme. It also explores the status, adequacy and enforcement of this basic human right as a constitutional right. To what extent Mother Nature is protected and how effective our environmental safeguards are, directly and indirectly, have reciprocal effects on the sustainable development of a country. In the midst of facing today?s global environmental challenges, it is the fervent hope of every citizen to live a decent life with reasonable living conditions for survival, and preservation of human dignity and sanity. This can only be achieved if the greed of the developed countries gradually erodes in the face of abating the sufferings of mankind by having a heart for humanity. Going back to basics, the right to a healthful environment actually relates to the sustainable survival of the humankind because it encompasses fresh air to breathe, safe and clean drinking water, sufficient nutritious food, proper homes for shelter and adequate sanitation facilities for the sustenance of all biota. Without securing and maintaining a healthful environment for present and future generations to come, mankind will drastically be deprived from enjoying the fundamental human rights that make life worth living.
