Abstract:

The objective of this paper is to examine the locus of control tendencies and educational philosophies of teacher candidates. A person with an internal locus of control thinks that he or she can influence events and their results, while someone with an external locus of control accuses the outside forces for everything. An educational philosophy is an overall approach about education-related issues, such as how student learning and potential are most effectively maximized, as well as the role of educators in the classroom, school, community, and society. The population consists of the teacher candidates at Ege University, Faculty of Education. The study group is determined by convenience sampling method. Teacher candidates response Locus of Control Scale developed by Dağ (2002) and Philosophy Preference Assessment Scale developed by Çetin, İlhan & Arslan (2012). SPSS 17.00 program is used for analysis of the data. Research design is conducted in survey and correlational model.
