The paper addresses the question of whether the Czech Republic should adopt the euro. The aim of the paper is to evaluate the potential advantages and disadvantages of euro adoption. The applied methodological framework combines logical reasoning with the analysis and comparison of statistical data. The analysis indicates that joining the euro area would currently be disadvantageous for the Czech Republic and would entail a significant number of risks. The loss of independent monetary policy, which played an important role in curbing high inflation during the recent inflation surge, was identified as the main risk.
