SHAILENDRA SINGH, SEEMA SHARMA

Abstract:

The phenomenon of sustainability is being practiced for ages in our societies, however, it is being a topic of concern from past few decades. From past few decades, countries were focusing on economic growth and development, however, they were reluctant towards sustainability. In the year 2000, world community showed solidarity towards sustainability and took pledge to achieve Millennium Development Goals by 2015, however, they failed to achieve the same and now the countries have adopted another set of more comprehensive goals, known as Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs), to achieve by 2030. To measure the SDG performance, we have a comprehensive indicator set which measures the performance of the outcomes of the (interventions) schemes or policies. However, the currently available tool does not measure the policy stages e.g. formulation, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and follow-up, which help in reaching to final outcome. In our study, we are trying to develop a tool which will measure the performance of SDGs by measuring the policy stages. Also, this study will outline the methodology and the significance of this study and the newly developed tool.
