ONSET OF SELF-SIMILARITIES IN CURRICULUM REVIEW PROCESSES THROUGH THE LENS OF HEAD, HEART, AND HANDS

DA YANG TAN

Abstract:

In this presentation, we will report on the emergence of self-similar properties that emerged during the curriculum review for a set of mathematics courses for primary school trainee teachers in Singapore. Through the lens of complexity sciences, the survey and meeting data collected could be broadly classified into Hands, Head, and Heart (3H) domains and one could further identify its corresponding self-similar properties. We would further argue in the presentation that such self-similarity in 3H could provide for a potential framework to holistically approach a curriculum review process by treating such process as a complex system with multiple dimensions and aspects.
